ELT is NOT for Leominster

The Leominster School District is proposing to extend the school day at two of our elementary schools (Northwest and Southeast) in the fall of 2009. Many parents and community members have expressed great concern and opposition to this initiative as we believe it is NOT in the best interest of our young children. Furthermore, we feel our input and concerns have gone unheard by the school district in this decision-making process. Therefore, to better inform ourselves, we have initiated contact with other school districts and conducted research to better understand the purpose and benefits of ELT. Many of us have been in close contact with School Committee members, outlining our concerns and the results of our research which we strongly believe help to prove why ELT is not the answer for Leominster. We hope this wiki will be helpful in informing other parents and community members on this concerning topic as we work collaboratively to ensure the best educational decisions are made for our children.
