ELT is NOT for Leominster

What You Can Do To Help

Page history last edited by Sue Olivier 1 yr ago

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO TO HELP STOP ELT FROM BEING IMPLEMENTED IN LEOMINSTER IS TO VOICE YOUR CONCERNS!!

Below you will find contact information for all the School Committee members, the two principals proposing this initiative, the superintendent and the deputy superintendent, as well as a contact person from the Department of Education (DOE) who will be reviewing the proposals.  PLEASE call, e-mail, or write to every one of these individuals and let them know your concerns, thoughts, and findings on ELT and the proposals at Northwest and Southeast.  The School Committee members want to hear from us, and they have asked over and over again for letters and phone calls from parents and community members to let them know how we stand on this idea and the proposals.

It will also be important for you to present your thoughts and concerns at all upcoming forums and School Committee meetings.  There is a panel discussion scheduled at Leominster High School in the auditorium on Monday, November 3rd, from 6:30-7:30PM where there will be teachers, administrators, and parents from other communities presenting on their experiences with ELT and sharing what they believe are the benefits of a longer school day.  It's our understanding there will be a question and answer period during the discussion.  Be ready to ask your questions and share your concerns!!

There will be a School Committee meeting immediately following the panel discussion on November 3rd at 7:30, also at Leominster High School.  At the very start of the meeting, parents are invited to stand and present their thoughts, research, concerns, etc. on any issue to be discussed at the meeting.  Again, please use this time to voice your thoughts, findings, and concerns!!

Another School Committee meeting is scheduled for November 17th, and this is the proposed date for when the School Committee will vote on this initiative.  Again, we need to take advantage of the chance to express our thoughts and concerns at the start of the meeting!

Finally, be sure to sign the petition against ELT in Leominster.  Print out the petition from the link below and sign it.  Then take it to all your family, friends, neighbors, and any other member of the Leominster community and have them sign it.  All printed petitions can be brought to either of the School Committee meetings, or dropped off in the mailbox at 33 Biscuit Hill Drive in Leominster.
